The benefits that bilingual education brings to students enrolled in bilingual schools are beyond doubt. The steady growth of this type of education, in response to families\u2019 demand, has created a scenario in which more than one and a half million students receive bilingual instruction in over 7,500 public and state-funded private schools.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bilingual education programmes are complex structures built around a series of elements \u2014 educational authorities, schools, students and families \u2014 with the aim of achieving the main objective of providing students with the highest possible level of linguistic competence. In this context, there are many important factors, such as programme design, resources, training, etc. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To analyse the evolution of bilingual education in the Spanish education system, the development of the programmes, their expansion, management and results, with the aim of detecting some of their strengths and weaknesses and proposing the necessary improvement actions to increase the quality levels of all bilingual programmes, with particular emphasis on teacher training and assessment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
