XII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BILINGUAL EDUCATION AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES
The XII International Conference of Bilingual Education and Foreign Languages – CIEB 2026 will be held at the Faculty of Communication and Social Sciences of Universidad San Jorge, on 23rd, 24th and 25th October 2026.
Advantages
The benefits that bilingual education brings to students enrolled in bilingual schools are beyond doubt. The steady growth of this type of education, in response to families’ demand, has created a scenario in which more than one and a half million students receive bilingual instruction in over 7,500 public and state-funded private schools.
Programmes
Bilingual education programmes are complex structures built around a series of elements — educational authorities, schools, students and families — with the aim of achieving the main objective of providing students with the highest possible level of linguistic competence. In this context, there are many important factors, such as programme design, resources, training, etc.
Analysis
To analyse the evolution of bilingual education in the Spanish education system, the development of the programmes, their expansion, management and results, with the aim of detecting some of their strengths and weaknesses and proposing the necessary improvement actions to increase the quality levels of all bilingual programmes, with particular emphasis on teacher training and assessment.
Debate
To foster a forum for discussion, debate, and the exchange of ideas and experiences among professionals in bilingual education and language teaching and, at the same time, to support the teachers who strive to offer bilingual education to their students, and who work tirelessly, making every effort to acquire the greatest possible command of the language of instruction and the highest possible competences.
A conference for everyone
Aimed at primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, university lecturers, university students, educational leaders, researchers and educational authorities, experts from any educational sector or field related to education who are interested in everything related to bilingual education and language teaching in public, state-subsidised or private schools, in foreign-language immersion programmes (CLIL/AICLE) or in any other modality.
